I completed the main campaign in Redfall ( official site, Steam , also on Game Pass), a 4 player co-op open world shooter by Arkane Austin, who's mostly known for detailed single player story-filled action games. There are two open world regions, Redfall Commons and Burial Point. OK you get the idea. Let's zoom out.

Final Fantasys end with god-killing because that's what changing your life requires! Even AAA has given up on immersive sim RPGs , so any dev deserves praise just for attempting this genre I think. it's going to therapy! Still, overall this was a very impressive achievement for just 3 indie developers.

The most significant growth in revenue was seen in the following sub-genres: Open World Adventure is a newborn sub-genre that grew by 622% this year. A true masterpiece of an ad rivaling launch trailers from AAA games. We believe this is large because the audience at large doesn’t associate Final Fantasy with shooters.
