Just rebuilding the SCUMM scripts to Monkey Island took over an hour (a job that takes a fraction of a second for Delores). Releasing a build going to manufacture was nerve wracking and very expensive. BONUS NOTE: Don't believe the myth that programmers can test their own code. It's just an adventure game engine.
