My team and I have been working on Fantasy Strike for almost a year and half now. It's a fighting game featuring the same characters as my Yomi card game and it's unusually easy to play. Modern Quake tools have much better lighting controls than 25 years ago, including alpha masked texture-based shadows and some nice ambient light configs, but it's still pretty primitive by today's standards and I had to iterate a lot to balance the shadowing vs. the self-illumination for a natural look.

Now that I’m working with a publisher that has a strong interest in seeing indie devs like me succeed, I talk through some things with them and share alpha builds, screenshots etc. I don’t want to share the specifics of the story now as that’s to be discovered when playing D&K, but the storyline works for a medieval fantasy setting.

The Fantasy Strike fighting game is now free to play. So it’s not surprising that this hasn’t been done much in the fighting game genre yet. There are, in genres other than fighting games. That’s very unusual, and hardly any major f2p games work this way—but Fantasy Strike does. Isn’t This Standard?

Certain in the realm of fighting games it blows away every other attempt. YRCs The biggest new feature of the fighting system is the YRC, or yellow roman cancel. I think this is a really bold move on the developer's part and also the most surprising feature that I've seen in a fighting game in years. FRCs added.

Final Fantasy VI Advance. Some would argue that this version of Final Fantasy was the absolute best, at least within the confines of the two-dimensional world. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. Set within the Final Fantasy world, this action game had a combination of great stories and strategies for players to focus on.
