Release candidate: Godot 3.3 RC 6

Godot 3.3 ? Weren't we working on a version 3.2.4? If you missed the recent news, we decided to change our versioning for Godot 3.x and rename the upcoming version 3.2.4 to Godot 3.3 , thereby starting a new stable branch. Check the dedicated blog post for details. But aside from the name change, it's still the same release. Our last testing build was 3.2.4 RC 5 and so this new Release Candidate is named 3.3 RC 6.

The UK Games market grew to £7 billion in 2020

UK trade body UKIE has put out an infographic capturing the size of the UK games market and pegs it at £7 billion in 2020. Looking at the infographic, several points stand out: Digital console software at £1.7 billion remains the largest single market, edging out mobile which has £1.5 billion. Digital console grew more in 2020 (24%) than mobile (21%).

Godot OpenXR support

OpenXR is a new open standard for interacting with XR hardware by the wonderful people at Khronos. This has been one of these rare cases where all the industry leaders have come together and come up with a standard that combines all the best practices of the different solutions available so far. With the announcement of the 0.9 specification roughly two years ago Microsoft showed off their runtime as well as Collabora with their open source Linux based OpenXR runtime called Monado.

Release candidate: Godot 3.2.4 RC 5

Godot 3.2.4 is going to be incredibly feature-packed, and we're taking the time necessary to ensure that it will also be stable. We had a fourth Release Candidate a few days ago which got good testing and helped surface various bugs, many of which have been fixed. So we're now making a RC 5 build to keep iterating fast and make sure that the bug fixes work as expected.
