As mentioned, Godot's documentation was initially in a GitHub wiki, and could only be edited by developers with write access (so only Juan and Ariel initially, later on the Bugsquad too). I was no happy with the wiki system as it typically lets anyone make edits, and you have to review edits afterwards and correct issues, if any.
