Suda51: "Everyone cares too much about Metacritic scores"

Industry veteran and No More Heroes creator Goichi 'Suda51' Suda believes games companies are still putting too much stock in how their games perform on Metacritic. In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz , Suda and his fellow Japanese legend Shinji Mikami discussed the myriad reasons that titles like their own, with their distinct style and flavour, have been somewhat rare over the years – and Suda suggested it's because many companies are too focused on review scores.

Absurd Ventures launches new studio with Ascendant Studios staff

Absurd Ventures has announced the launch of a new studio called Absurd Marin, made up by the former Ascendant Studios team. Based in San Rafael, California, the developer will be led by Ascendant founder and game director Bret Robbins. When asked about more details about the staff, a spokesperson for the studio told us it's made of "about 20 developers from the core team behind Immortals of Aveum" and that it "will continue to staff up further as development progresses on the project.

This sort of functionality would be amazing, as it would allow level-sharing between creators. Shouldn’t Overwatch also have the same problem then in regards to visual clarity? I’m sure if you were to give people Juno and Brigitte people would struggle telling what their role is probably confusing Brigitte as a Tank given she has a shield just like Reinhardt. Only Baptiste has said cross on his outfit which if he didn’t people might confuse him from DPS since he carries a healing grenade launcher. Large number of json files when building WebGL

Hi all! I use Cocos Creator version 3.8.3. When building WebGL, a huge number of json files are generated. For example, in the “web-mobile/assets/resources/import” folder I have 374 json files. Each image contains at least one json file. It turns out that you will need to make 374 requests to json files and then another 374 requests to images. Due to the large number of requests, everything starts to take a long time to load.
