Why isn't Godot an ECS-based game engine?

This design became common in game engines and libraries in the early 2010s. Godot uses plenty of data-oriented optimizations for physics, rendering, audio, etc. Game logic. Still (while, by far, not the majority) some types of games will see a performance benefit when using ECS in the game logic side.

Godot XR progress update June 2021

Windows Mixed Reality headsets are currently only supported through SteamVR as WMR natively only supports DirectX game engines. Godot 4 stereoscopic rendering through Multiview. One of the bigger changes we did to enabled XR support in Godot 4 is implementing multiview support into the rendering engine.
