Microsoft's $69 billion bid to acquire Activision Blizzard can go ahead, after the US regulator was denied an injunction to block the deal. The FTC was seeking to temporarily block the deal ahead of its case to prevent the acquisition entirely, which is currently scheduled for August. The decision by Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley means Microsoft can close its deal ahead of its July 18 deadline.

The Video Game History Foundation has conducted a study in partnership with the Software Preservation Network on the availability of games released before 2010. According to the study, 87% of retro games are "critically endangered" in the US, as they are difficult to play in their physical and digital forms.

Hi All, Struggled to find any examples of the gamepad features or much documentation. So now that I have figured it out I thought I would share some code to help you work with gamepads in your games. So I made a folder in my assets called Scripts → Global and another folder inside Scripts called Scenes. I’ve then created this first defaultScript into the Scenes folder and a gamepad script into Global.

There are two main issues with visualization when it comes to adjustible meshes (the “body sliders”). The way that all of the customizable character data is stored isn’t actually a body at all, but a common default mesh with offsets for each adjustible value. So if you spent your time to customize a specific look for hair, eyes, lips, mouth, and skin color, that would actually get stored as hair 5, eyes 3, lips 15, mouth 8, skin color 7.

A new indie Kyoto-based studio called Denkiworks came out of stealth today. It was created by designers Taku Arioka and Liam Edwards (formerly game director on Chuhai Labs' Cursed to Golf) as well as programmer Jan de Graaf, who all worked at Q-Games on Apple Arcade title Pixeljunk Scrappers. Denkiworks is working on its debut title made in Unity, codenamed Project Tanuki.
