Shawn Layden's advice on making games faster and cheaper

GamesIndustry.biz

It was back in 2020 when Shawn Layden began sounding the alarm around rising game development costs. UK studio Ant Workshop has embarked upon a significant shift in how it makes games, and it's one that managing director Tony Gowland believes could benefit a lot of developers. Once upon a time, we used to go to a brick and mortar shop to buy the latest releases; now we can snap them up online and download them to our device without leaving our homes. Developers used to have to partner with publishers for their games to reach market; now they can use digital platforms and release their wares into the world without a middle man.

Did (not) E3 2024 provide hope for a beleaguered games industry? | Opinion

GamesIndustry.biz

I really enjoyed the spring/summer games showcases we've just watched. Even the PlayStation one , which was notably lacking in big names, had something to offer. In the past Sony would have done some 'jazz hands' and stuck on a trailer for a game that is early in development (or, harking back to the days of the Final Fantasy VII Remake reveal, isn't in development yet).
