No Exit

Game Design Advice

Huge portions of the populace involuntarily lead monastic lives and even then thousands of people are dying a day. GameStop is somehow a thing that people care about. What is happening? Why is it that on every side it feels like things are slipping away, and yet at the same time it feels like we’re caught in an interminable stasis?

After all, what destroys perfectly good new year’s resolutions are usually flashy events or crises. It’s tempting to ask “how to I become more motivated” or “why am I so lazy?

Texture Compression on Apple M1

The Astronauts

In the previous post I did a survey of various GPU format compression libraries. I just got an Apple M1 MacMini to help port some of these compression libraries to it, and of course decided to see some performance numbers. As everyone already noticed, M1 CPU is quite impressive. I’m comparing three setups here: MacBookPro (2019 16", 8 cores / 16 threads).

Script breakdown: the most critical step of pre-production
